She has a younger sister whos name is Surilie Gautam & she is also Bollywood actress. Yami doing regular school & college, she taken admission in college for getting degree in law of honors. She wanted to go in Indian Administrative Services but later on she entered in Film Industry. She left her studies in law of honors for making carrier in acting. Now she is doing studies in part time from Mumbai. Yami Gautam hobbies, She is like to reading books, Decorating something, listening music etc.

Yami Gautam came in Mumbai at the age of 20 for making carrier in Film. She made her 1st debut role in Tv show Chand Ke Paar Chalo, and Raajkumar Aaryyan. After that she played role in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam Colors Tv serial as Leher Mathur.
In 2009 she worked in 1st time 'Ullasa Utsaha' Kannada film. In this movie she was in lead role. After that in 2012 she worked with Shoojit Sircar film director & seen in Vicky Donar Movie. This movie noted some record on box office & got positive reviews from critics. For this movie she is nominated in 58th Filmfare Awards.
After taking 2 years break Yami back in 2014, She worked in 2 film one is Total Siyapaa which is comedy Drama movie & another one is Action Jackson which was thriller movie. those film are under performed at the box office.
In 2015, She worked in Badlpur movie which is action-thriller movie. Movie got positive reviews critics & collected huge collection on box office. In this movie Varun Dhawan & Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead role & her performance in this movie was praised.
Yami Gautam gets Great success in 2019, she worked in Uri : The Surgical Strike movie. Starring alongside Vicky Kaushal & movie earned ₹3.36 billion dollar money in worldwide.
